Elevate your independence with the Dignity Lifts BL1 Basic Toilet Lift, a safe, sturdy, and affordable solution designed to prevent bathroom falls and promote self-sufficiency. Offering a gradual 26-second lift from seated to standing, this model is the most cost-effective in the lineup, featuring four wide feet for stability, dual lifting actuators, and an easy-to-use wired remote. With a 9-inch lift, accommodating 16 to 18-inch toilet bowls, the BL1 ensures a secure and reliable experience, preventing lightheadedness and fostering confidence in daily bathroom activities.

Recognizing the signs for a dignity lift, such as using a walker or struggling to stand, is crucial for maintaining autonomy at home. Many users choose the BL1 as an alternative to assisted living, allowing them to stay in familiar surroundings. The cost-effectiveness of the BL1 is highlighted, offering a substantial financial advantage over alternatives like full-time care or assisted living, making it a sensible investment for long-term well-being.

Installation is hassle-free, requiring a simple replacement of the existing toilet seat with the BL1. With an overall width of 23 7/8" and a depth of 27", it fits standard bathrooms, complying with building codes. The lift's 300-pound weight limit and 20" distance between handles ensure broad user compatibility. For added convenience, the BL1 plugs into the wall, with installation videos and White Glove Delivery options available for those who need additional assistance. Dignity Lifts is dedicated to helping individuals "Stand Up, For Yourself," and the BL1 is a reliable companion on the journey to a more secure and dignified lifestyle.

Will it work with my toilet?

The Dignity Lifts are designed to work with a wide range of toilets. Here's a breakdown of the compatibility criteria:

Height Requirements:

  • DL1 and WL1 lifts are suitable for toilets with a rim height between 14" to 18".
  • CL1 is compatible only with ADA height toilets, which have a rim height of 17" to 18".
  • BL1 requires a rim height between 16" to 18".
  • If your toilet is taller than 18", you can use a DL1 lift and add furniture risers under the feet to increase its height.

Width of the Toilet at the Bowl:

  • Generally, the width of the toilet bowl is not a concern. All toilet bowls less than 16 1/2" wide should fit within the sides of the Dignity Lifts.

Toilets with Front Flair Tanks:

  • Some toilets with tanks featuring a "front flair" may not be compatible. Most toilet designs work well with Dignity Lifts, but those with a forward-flaring tank, especially in modernist toilets, may pose an issue. A graphic is provided to help users determine if their toilet's tank flair is within acceptable limits.

For more detailed information and a visual guide, you can refer to this graphic. The lifts are designed to accommodate a wide variety of toilet designs, but it's recommended to check the specifics to ensure compatibility.

Will it fit my bathroom?

Check these things:

Clearance from Other Things: How far is your toilet from other things, like side walls, a tub, or vanity? The DL1, BL1, and WL1 lifts all need 24" of width, so your toilet needs to have 12" of clearance from the center-line of the toilet to any obstruction. (see picture below). Our CL1 needs 14" of clearance on each side.

Bathroom Door Swing: Does the bathroom door need to swing there? The swing of the door might interfere with your toilet lift. Measure 6 inches in front of your toilet's bowl and then be sure there is 24" of width available there.

During the first 90 days of your ownership, Dignity Lifts will work with you and, if necessary and possible, a local appliance repair person to keep your Dignity Lift working properly. This warranty does not include installation of your lift; it covers only the lift itself and its operation.

Your first point of contact for warranty repairs will be to call us or email us. Our team will handle your case. We will help diagnose the problem and fix it. Dignity Lifts can typically be serviced by an appliance repair technician. We can help see if there is one that services your area (rural customers might not qualify for this). We will send instructions and replacement parts to you or the technician.

Will a Dignity Lift Work with My Toilet?

Dignity Lifts work with almost all toilets. Below is information about what toilets work with their toilet lifts.

Height Requirements:

  • The height of the rim of the toilet needs to be between 14" to 18" with DL1 and WL1 lifts.
  • CL1 only works with ADA height toilets (17"-18" rim height).
  • BL1 requires a rim height of between 16"-18".
  • If your toilet is higher than 18", you can use a DL1 lift and add furniture risers under the feet to make it taller.

Width of the Toilet at the Bowl:

The width of the toilet is not usually a problem. Any toilet bowl that is less than 16 1/2" wide will fit inside the sides of all of our toilet lifts.

Toilets with Front Flair Tanks:

Some toilets with tanks featuring "front flair" may not fit. The shape of most toilets works great with all of our toilet lifts. Our lifts fit hundreds and hundreds of different toilet designs. It is rare to find a toilet that our lifts don't work with, but they do exist. Some modernist toilets have a tank that flairs forward. If that flair goes too far forward, the toilet won't fit any toilet lift. Refer to the graphic below to determine if our lift will work with your toilet.

How Much Flair Is Too Much?

Check these things:

Clearance from Other Things:

How far is your toilet from other things, like side walls, a tub, or vanity? The DL1, BL1, and WL1 lifts all need 24" of width, so your toilet needs to have 12" of clearance from the center-line of the toilet to any obstruction. (see picture below). Our CL1 needs 14" of clearance on each side.

Bathroom Door Swing:

Does the bathroom door need to swing there? The swing of the door might interfere with your toilet lift. Measure 6 inches in front of your toilet's bowl and then be sure there is 24" of width available there.
